VERSION KEEPER is a free XTension courtesy of Markzware which has been extracted from MarkzTools™, a power XTension utility which allows you to convert documents to lower versions of QuarkXPress, hence making your documents "backwards compatible".
VERSION KEEPER v1.6 offers a new feature of adding the version number to a document's icon which will then be visible at the Finder level. On some systems, due to disk cache, you may have to close and open the folder in order to have the file change updated.
VERSION KEEPER runs under QuarkXPress 3.2 and above and warns you when you are about to save a lower version document, such as 3.11.
You can choose from various warning features by selecting "Version Keeper..." under the Utilities menu: "Warn on Save" posts an alert just prior to Saving, Closing, Collect for Output or Quitting. "Prevent Save" stops saving altogether and "Normal Prompt" returns control back to QuarkXPress as usual.
Selecting "Display Version" will display in the upper left corner of the current document window the version of QuarkXPress under which the document was last saved.
Selecting "Display Settings" will display a little circle in the upper left corner of the current document window if "Use Document Settings" was selected when prompted for an XPress Prefs conflict while opening the document. This also informs you that any changes you make to kerning or hyphenation will apply to this document only.
Checking "Add Icon to Documents" will add the version number to a document's icon at the Finder level when saving the document.
